Merry christmas. 🎄🎅

GOOD MORNING ALL

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I've just opened all of my presents now I'm sitting with a cup of coffee in my fave p.j's!

I got a lot of pants! (What I asked for) I also got a laptop :)

My mum loved her present of a Mac makeup voucher and a tub of chillies and a cute little bowl!

I wish my dad was home but he did atleast call me from Abu Dhabi to say merry Christmas!

The below is a picture of my breakfast!!!! Cannot wait to eat this! Even at the age of 21 my mum still cuts up my toast into squares to make my beans on toast!  Yes that is a glass of prosecco to wash it all down!

I'll maybe post again later today, I'm off to enjoy my day and have my Christmas lunch at a family friends house.

Merry Christmas to all, lots of love

The people I miss xx

I know it's christmas! I love it's christmas! I just feel like I need to write down the people I miss.

Firstly, I wish my dad was in this country. He has been in Abu Dhabi for 2 months with work and won't get home until after New Years. I love my dad so much and I know how lucky I am that he is still with us when I see my poor cousins without their dad. I just wish he was here :(

The next person I miss so so so much is my Granda Duguid, he's been away for a few years now but I love him and miss him so much.  He was the best granda ever and made christmas so entertaining as well as every other day of the year.  I look forward to giving my granny her annual christmas Calender as it is full of pictures of him and he grand children when they were younger.

Lastly on my I miss you and wish you were here list is my uncle Jim. My uncle Jim was a funny man who did great cuddles and loved a joke and a giggle. He called me curly and contantly asked if I had a boyfriend yet. It breaks my heart that my cousins Donna, Ian and Claire have no dad to share their christmas with anymore :(

On top of missing my family that isn't with us anymore I cannot stop thinking about the people who have to be without their loved ones this year. The families who lost people in the Sydney attack and the glasgow truck Tragedy.

So to anyone who is missing anyone this christmas just remember that you are loved and that you won't be the only one missing them so remember to give everyone cuddles and lots of love!

I'm sending e cuddles to everyone!

Lots of love

Presents to buy your mum and dad

Hola Christmas lovely's!

I thought I would give you a last minute gift idea.. maybe too last minute but its worth a look!

PARENTS

Mum

So I'll start off with my mum! I normally find it impossible to shop for my mum because she is SO fussy! But this year I found the perfect present! A mac voucher to get her makeup done in store! You get £30+ to get your makeup done in store and you get to buy up to the value of the products with this session!

I know my mum has been eyeing up my makeup so I am excited to give this to her.  I also got the same gift for my auntie and my mums best friend so they can all go in and get their makeup done together!

An alternative gift would be to go onto groupon or another website and buy a weekend away to share with someone.  My mum doesn't like getting material gifts because she is so fussy and knows what she likes so I love it when I can think out of the box. I think I jumped out of the box with this one!!

Dad

Next up is my lovely daddykins! I could get my dad so much stuff and know that he will never use it! He likes his motor bikes and just wants bike parts every year! BUT I WILL NOT BUY HIM BIKE BITS!

As before, I know that he would love a weekend away or a meal at a good restaurant but I didn't get this for him this year.

Options for your dad and where you can get them for nice prices
  • Wallet - Debenhams have some lovely wallets in different price ranges. I think that it is a great idea. and would work for my dad if he wasn't so bloody fussy with what kind he likes!
  • Watch - again, Debenhams has great options and price ranges.  I would love to get my dad a new watch but my dad has an obsession with watches and has way too many! I got my brother a watch last year from the airport and they had good options!
  • Belt - once more, Debenhams is a great option! This is what I got my dad this year, a nice leather belt. I think that he will use this and I wish I had thought about it before!
  • Jamma Bottoms - Now you could easily go to Debenhams for this! But I went to Primark and got a cosy pair! Its a running joke in my household that my dad always wears my mums stuff instead of his own! Her slippers, her dressing gown and her leggings under his bike leathers!! imagine that! a big manny in leggings!! So this year I got my dad some pyjama bottoms for when he is lounging about the house!  I hope I see him wearing them this year!

Let me know if you would get these people something else or if you would like to buy any of the below for yourself or a family member?

Lots of Love

The Christmas Tag

Ho Ho HO!

With 3 sleeps to go I thought I would do a wee Christmas tag since I found it on Laura's blog.

So below are my awfully thought out answers!

Please feel free to answer this tag in the comments or comment and tell me if you have done any tags you want me to do as well?

1.What are your top 3 Christmas Movies?
My top 3 Christmas movies… This is so hard!!!!!!
Elf
Polar express
The Grinch
This is my faves today but tomorrow it could be totally different.  I spend the whole of December watching Christmas movies, both the classics and the lifetime ones!

02. The Christmas song you know all the lyrics to?

In addition to watching Christmas movies all year round I listen to Christmas music! The fairy tale of New York is a solid must and I could tell you every word!   I am constantly singing throughout December, even though my voice isn’t the best!

03. Do you have any special or favourite traditions?

I have a big family full of traditions,  Boxing day is the best of all, my whole family and close friends comes round at 3pm and stay til late.  Last year we had around 50 people round through out the day and it was so much fun.  This is a tradition I hope that we never lose and carries on even when I’m a grand parents.

Another tradition we have is the red breast Robin looking out for us and making sure we are good.  If we are bad he flies back to Santa and tells on us.  We know he has been to see Santa because the robin has moved.  I thought that everyone did this, it turns out its just our family and something that my Granny started when my cousins and I were little.  I am 21 now and my Granny still moves the robin if we have been bad!!

04. What day is it officially allowed to start actively anticipate Christmas?
The 4th Sunday before Christmas!

05. A day in advance or months ahead – when do you start thinking about getting Christmas shopping?

I usually buy it all in the 1st week of December then get really sad that I have no more presents to buy!!

06. Favourite food that you associate with Christmas?
STUFFING! ROAST TATTIES! CRANBERRY SAUCE. I could have a whole plate of that!

07. What is the best gift someone has ever gotten you?

I remember when I was a little girl, my mum and dad didn’t have a lot of money so they got a dolls house from a car boot sale and wrapped it in jackets.  I don't think I have ever been so happy! we still have the dolls house in the loft so my children can play with it once day!

08. In full anticipation you grab the wrapped present that looks most like the sweater you wished for, only to find a pair of really ugly socks how do you react?
EH, Why did I get ugly socks?

Nah, I don’t think my family would do that to me!

09. What makes this time of the year ‘the most wonderful’?

Snow, I really miss the snow this year, I love it!

10. Is your Christmas Tree real or fake?
This year its fake but most years we have a real one the hall way! It smells so good!!! Last year we had a proper drama with putting up the real Christmas tree.  I almost broke my finger when the tree fell on top of me and my hand was in the pot!

11. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Dasher, Prancer, Donner, Dancer, Blitzin, Vixen, Rudolf , Cupid , Comet and Oliver of course ;)

12. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

I love the idea of getting presents but everyone that knows me knows that I love giving gifts! I am obsessed with getting the perfect presents! We had 2 secret Santa’s at my work this year. I gave a little mermaid obsessed coffee fanatic a mug with her name on it. She came upstairs and asked everyone who got it for her she was so chuffed!  I also got my team mate a jumper that said “you can’t sit with us” on it.  We spend our days quoting mean girls so she was beside herself with laughter and knew exactly who had her!

 ***

So there it is! my Christmas tag! as I said, feel free to have a go yourself.  My next blog is going to be a quick gift guide where I will show the presents that I have given and am giving to people!

I know its quite late in the year but I've started this blog this late in the year!

Lots of love

Boots shopping haul - makeup

Hey! I know my last post spoke about being a makeup a holic, but I've just bought more...

I had a voucher in boots to spend and there were those cute little freebie boxes when you bought 2 products etc! I just had to!!

I am a sucker for the No7 freebies!! So to get that I had to buy 2 products... Which I did, I bought a nail varnish in a deep red (would tell you the colour but I left it at work) and a lip liner in a pinky colour.

Yes, that is the colour of nail varnish I got and yes it has chipped already, I am impossible when it comes to nail varnish!

The freebie I got with this is a beautiful golden box with a mascara,up gloss, eye cream and a dark eye shadow. I realised i don't really want any of these so I am going to give this as an extra gift to my mum for her christmas. (See, pointless spending of makeup!)
I then went to the bourjois counter and treated myself to my favourite foundation (since I've been using the rimmel 25 hour one that I hate) and a really pigmented lipgloss/stain.

This came with a cute box that I shall be keeping for myself! Inside the box is a mascara, eyeshaddow, a nude lipstick and a nude nailvarnish. I always go for bright colours so I am excited to try out a nude lip with a big sparkly eye soon!

I am looking forward to using these new products as I need to throw a few things out!

Let me know what you think about them and if there are any other amazing makeup deals I should invest in ;)

I need to make it a worth while place to be!

I spent an hour this lovely bath and came out looking like a prune!

Confessions of a makeup-a-holic

Hey everyone

This is something that sounds stupid but is hard to deal with.  I am a makeupaholic! when ever I feel stressed I just go to boots or superdrug and spend money. I don't like buying clothes because I am never the right size, I am sick of buying shoes because they always hurt my feet and I grudge buying accessories because I never wear them!

I buy so much and almost every day is a new purchase that I "need" you have seen my makeup collection!!!

My new years resolution is going to be that I cannot buy any new makeup unless I have ran out of something, i.e. no foundation until the foundation I have has finished.

I have to think of some more resolutions because I like to make a couple, most of which I do stick to!

does anyone know how to help me to stop buying makeup?

have you made your resolutions yet? what are they?

Let me know,

Lots of love

Update on Elf products REVIEW

Hello everyone!

Just a quick wee post to let you know how I am getting on with my elf products!

The lip lock pencil was the biggest disappointment.  I wear lipstick all of the time and felt like it was a waste of time.  The tube was broken so the "wax" dropped out every time I wanted to use it.  The product hardly went on and had to be dragged across my lips.. over all, I wont be using this much. very sad :(

The Mineral face cleanser is a pure delight!  so recommend this!  I did not read what this did when I bought it and I love that it is a powder!!  My face feels amazing when done.  At £8 this is a total bargain and will be repurchasing this when it runs out!

The Daily brush cleaner is a total win!! although when getting this link I see that it is $3 in the US and £3.95 in the UK which is a big price difference... still mega cheap compared to mac etc.  I cleaned all of my brushes with this and now they feel brand new.. got all of my friends buying this because I'm not giving mine up! I would get this quick as it is always sold out!

These are the only 3 I have used so far.. no idea why I bought the brush shampoo, not even opened yet!

What do you guys think of the above, agree, disagree?

Is there any elf products you think I should get?

Over and out

Make up storage

Hey there!

I recently updated the storage situation with my makeup and I thought I would attempt to share it with you's!

The above is an overview of my vanity table.

The vanity table is from Ikea along with the mirror.  The butterfly decals are from EBay and I think they just make the mirror a little bit more interesting.

The AMAZING Tetris lamp is off of amazon and is a great addition to any room!  I did see it in Hawkins Bazaar if you would like to go into the shop to see it before you buy it, I think its going for £30 there.

On the other side is my advent calendar for this year, I don't eat chocolate that much so I wanted to get something little to open.  I went into Primark and found a couple of jewellery calendars so I got it for myself.  there is a 24 day one and a 12 days one, I've really enjoyed getting a new little bit of jewellery every day so I will definitely be getting one next year!

Moving on to the actual storage situation.  I got all of the clear boxes in TK Maxx, you also get them on ebay and  amazon.  I managed to put most of my makeup collection in the clear boxes with only a couple of items going into my drawer.  I am still waiting on my lipstick box to arrive from amazon!

The first box has 2 big drawers and 2 little drawers and I prefer this one as it can fit my bigger pencils etc in it.  the little drawers aren't very good for lip pencils, mascaras or eye liners!  In the bottom drawer I have put the eye pallet I use the most, the Naked 3 pallet of course!   Then behind that is a some eyebrow products and a Kardashian eye chubby stick thing.

The second drawer up has all of my eyeliners! I have a few but they are for different things!  I then have the 3 mascaras that I use, they are the telescopic black one and silver one, I don't know what the difference is but the pretty lids came off of them so they don't look very nice anymore.  I also have the Kardashian mascara which I love for every day use. The top 2 drawers aren't used for much.  Right now I have my Christmas themed necklaces and some of the earrings from the advent calendar in one drawer and my birthday money in the other.

On top of this set of drawers houses my brushes, my lip liners and my 2 mac lipsticks. This tray for my brushes came with one of the boxes.  I wouldn't really recommend it as they don't hold the brushes very well and its awkwardly shaped. I am hoping that the lipsticks tray fits on to the top of the other box so they all fit. (I'll let you know if it does or not!)

The other set of drawers are a little bit more full and organised. Firstly, the top of the drawers has 2 technic lip balm owls that I am giving away in a Christmas gift.  The top 2 drawers house my concealers and a couple of highlighters.  The third drawer has an old eyebrow pallet that I refuse to get rid of, my Kardashian eyelashes and a heap of eye lash glue because for some reason I always keep the glue even though I throw out the lashes! In the fourth drawer I have my primers and a mac tester pot which I keep for when I'm travelling so I can decant my foundation into it.  The bottom 2 drawers are a little bit more fun, the fifth drawer has some eye glitters and balls for my tragus piercing.  (They are lip balls from Claire's accessories but they are a lot cheaper and nicer than the studs you get) The last drawer has some of my blushers, the bigger ones are in the drawer under the vanity table.

On top of my mirror is a bit of a mess really. It has my favourite perfume, an A my friend made for my birthday a couple of years ago, the letters to spell out LOVE (obviously) which I got from a valentines last year and a moustache that has all of my cheap earrings which didn't come in boxes.  The moustache is from poundland and originally I was going to keep it in my cupboards but I fell in love with it so it gets to stay out!

Inside the drawer is a just a mishmash of everything else!  I have one container from TKMaxx then the rest are just boxes to keep everything neat and tidy.  I feel like I've rambled too much so you can see what you want in the drawer.

Thanks for reading this, please let me know if you have any storage tips I should try!  Please let me know if you would like me to review any of the products that you see in here!

Lots of Love

Something a little elf brought me

Hi everyone!

I bought some products online from elf cosmetics, it's a low end cosmetic brand that is big in the U.S.  All of this totalled to less than £25 and the postage was free in the UK!

Eyes Lips Face
💄💄💄💄💄💄💄💄💄💄💄💄💄

I was looking for a brush cleanser that was affordable but did the job I needed! It had heard good things about the elf daily brush cleanser from YouTubers and blogs so I decided to go for it! This is when I got sucked in to the rest of the products! I picked up the shampoo for q deep cleanse so I'll let you know how that goes as well!
I saw a tab that said "back in stock" and got very excited to see what sells out fast on this website!

The mineral face cleanser was sporting a very high star rating so I thought I would give it a try. The packaging is sleek and clean and I love that it says it very natural!

Plumping Lip Glaze - Plum
Lip Lock Pencil
The last 2 products are lip products: lip products are my pit fall I life! I got the plumping lip glaze in the colour "plum" and the lip lock pencil which is a clear lip liner so I have great hopes for this!

I'm going to test out these products over the next couple of day/weeks and I'll let you know what I think of them!

Have you tried any of these? What to you think of them?

Is there any other elf products that you love?

Over and out!

Lots of love, Alanna x

Girl online mini review

Hi guys,

Thought I would start off with a review on the book "girl online." As it has made me want to blog again!  I used to blog when I was a teenager but deleted it as soon as a friend found it in fear of being made fun of.

To me this book is an easy read and I am really proud that Zoella the author has managed to get young teenagers to read! The sales of this book beat JK Rowling!  Girl online touches on having unsupportive friends, panic attacks, the social pressures to not stand out and the relationships within families.  I don't think that the love aspect teaches you much as it would never happen to me but it made for an interesting read!

Penny's relationship with her friend, Megan, is exactly how some of my "friendships" are. I grew up with these people but now they are totally different from who I am.  They make me feel bad for liking certain things and dumb for not reading the same books as them or enjoying the same shows.  I had to learn the hard way that some people are not worth wasting my time on.

I wish I had the same relationship with my brother as Penny has with hers (and I assume that Zoe has with Joe).  My brother is a year older than me and we really don't speak to each other. It's nice to see how a big brother, little sister relationship is meant to be!

The way Penny describes New York inspires me to go there one day (for more than 6 hours) and see the parts of New York that Penny sees!

I have known about panic attacks for a long time, I don't get them but through watching Zoella and Tanya Burr on YouTube I feel like I understand them more.  A girl at my work gets them and reading this book lets me know what it is she's going trough and helps with technics on how to make the person feel better.

Overall this book is worth the read and has a few interesting lessons in it that are worth learning.  If you take nothing else from this book, maybe go into your underwear drawer and have a clear out!!! I know I've got a couple of pairs of knickers that I would be embarrassed about being seen in!

If you took the time to read my review, thank you very much!

If you are feeling like a conversation, leave what you thought of the book below and let me know if you have any recommendations for me to read next!

Lots of Love

Alanna x
